pretty little things

the little things

hi you guys...i'm busier than ever chasing a little girl around and trying to keep my sanity!!

my mind is a whirlwind of ideas and i've been itching to make some new things.

if only i could find time to sneak out to the tiny house to play.

anyways, i recently happened upon this gorgeous assortment

of teeny tiny cacti and succulents from joojoo...modeled after the real thing of course.

how perfect is this little windowsill garden?!

it reminds me to find joy in the little things. to step back and take a look at the big picture

rather than stressing about all the daily stuff. you know what i mean?

the days are long but the weeks (and months) fly by. it's weird.

motherhood has been a crazy transition and i'm still getting used to it

i think i will probably always be getting used it since it's constantly changing

i'm just looking forward to having a little bit more time for myself

or at least until Emily is old enough to sit alongside me

and make some of her own pretty little things.

until then, i will keep filling my sketchbook

and crossing my fingers for long naps :)

egg hunt

yesterday was pure magic with this little girl!

we started out our day with an egg hunt in Nonnie and Poppie's enchanted garden

spent some time in a tree house

and had our very first encounter with bubbles

party time!

so the birthday celebration happened over the weekend and it was awesome.

everyone had a really great time...especially Emily :)

we did a brunch thingy with family and a couple of friends.

we served melons and berries, pastries and coffee....and mimosas.

we kicked open the french doors and the weather was perfect.

people milled around and sipped and nibbled and chatted.

there were lots of fresh flowers and here are the napkins i mentioned.

i love the little calico printed animals and thought they matched beautifully

with the banner and birthday letters.

of course i was too busy to snap any decent photos during the party

so i'll have to rely on those taken by the guests and hope they send them my way

however, i did managed to take a few after everyone left

so i would have something to show you.

i must remember for next time how important it is to have photo friendly lighting

anyways, this last one was captured by one of the grandmas

a split second before she ripped it off her head.

i can't really say that i got that quintessential birthday shot

which i'm a little bummed about, but i guess the important thing

is that everyone had a nice time. there's definitely room for improvement

the next time around, but i'm really happy with the way everything went :)

and still a little bit shocked that my baby is now a toddler.

party prep

Emily insisted on wearing her cap while trying on her birthday dress.

it reminds me of an old painting or something so i snapped a bunch of pictures.

she was so good today. i think she knew her dad and i were scurrying around to make

things special for her party. i baked cupcakes and a cake and a practice quiche.

...all of which turned out delicious!! and i've already had 4 cupcakes... 

she just chilled in her high chair and watched.

dad worked in the yard and went to the grocery store (twice)

we had pretty much the most productive day ever

SO excited to celebrate her tomorrow :)
