i have about a million paper covered boxes.
i use them to store everything from zippers to cut patterns to half finished projects to whatever!
anyways,i had this little guy laying around it was just screaming for polka dots.
so i took pics of the process... and voila!
a pretty papered box tutorial.
cut paper:
trace around the bottom of the box add enough to the sides to wrap up and over the wall with just a little bit extra overlapping onto the bottom.
trim out the corners to meet the box corners. leave a little bit extra (about 1/4") on the side edges to wrap around the corner..so you won't have any box peeking through if you don't cut it exactly right.
cut a small notch to make it easier to wrap during gluing.
apply glue to box:
start with the bottom of the box and spread a thin layer of elmers glue...position box glue side down on paper and press into place. smoothing bubble out to the edge (you will have wrinkling and bubble throughout the process, but they will magically disappear when the glue dries)
next glue the walls. start with the sides that you added 1/4" to and spread a layer of glue onto the walls of the box and smooth paper to edge..make sure to wrap the 1/4" around the corner
do this for all 4 sides up and over the walls
you will also need to cut a panel for the bottom.
trace around the box and cut to size
slather more glue on the bottom and stick down your final piece
it needs to dry overnight so keep your mitts off until morning.
then you can stuff it full of your favorite girly things.
happy crafting!

i have been doing this for as long as i can remember. in highschool i covered hat boxes with my childhood wallpaper. during the last packing session, i chose to let them go. they had been well loved for 20 years...and they looked it. i love the polka dots!

It is a nice box, you don't have to invest a lot of money to have something small and nice.
