i wrote this post early this morning and at the time i was planning to go through with the event, but after alot of thought and discussion i have decided that this is not the type of environment for my pretty little things and i will not be doing the show after all :(
well, yesterday was the set up day for Patchwork and i guess you could say
i was more than a little disappointed with my booth assignment.
i was told by the coordinator that i was just inside the main entrance
and according the the map i was given it appeared as though i had a wall directly behind me.
as you can see by these images, this is not the case.
instead, i have a construction zone with a dirt floor and exposed rebar
in addition to a heap of building materials stacked behind my booth.
oh, and i was also told that the doors near my booth would be locked
and that the main entrance had been relocated to the opposite side of the building
i spoke with the coordinator about my concerns and shared with her that i feel as though she should have informed me of the building condition so i might make an educated decision of whether or not to participate and...she did little more than shrug her shoulders.
in all fairness she did offer to refund my entry fee and let me pack up and go home, but honestly i have spent countless hours over the last couple of months preparing product and perfectng my display. i figured it was worth the $155 to just stick it out and hope to make a few sales.
anyways, today is the big day and i wish i could say i was feeling excited about it, but well, you know.
if you are planning to come by and say hello i will definitely be there until at least 3, but Emily's afternoon nap is at 4 and i can't guarantee i'll be sticking around much past then.
i strongly dislike posting about this kind of stuff, but i felt i should share since i have posted about this event more than a couple of times already. that being said, i am hoping for a successful show and i look forward to meeting some fun new people.
i am so excited for Patchwork this weekend! it's in Jack London Square on the waterfront right behind Heinhold's on the same day as farmer's market and the weather is supposed to be beautiful.
Heinhold's is seriously like the coolest bar EVER. i've told you about it before, but it has been around since 1883 and was an old stomping ground for Jack London. the floor inside is slanted when you walk in so you are actually walking dowhill into the bar. it's super tiny, but they have a killer patio right outside across from the marina. there is also an awesome tapas restaurant called Boca Nova across the walkway...it's totally dog friendly and also has a huge patio overlooking the water.
anyways, we got our booth assignments last week and i am right smack dab when you walk in at booth #3. on the left hand map, first floor right where it says 'ENTER'...if you are local to the Bay Area you HAVE to come down and support your local art community and enjoy a killer day at Jack London Square. there will be over 140 vendors and food trucks and music and sunshine.
Emily and Matilda will most likely be hanging out with their dad in front of Heinhold's and Matilda will be happily giving out bulldoggie kisses all day.
