pretty little things

micro mini and flower strands

matilda and i spent the whole weekend at my mom's for mother's day.

shopping eating and yammering. it was perfect!

i found this fancy little dress at a local consignment shop

for either a shower or the rehearsal dinner, 

but it's so short that my cheeks are on the chair when i sit down

so i need to figure out what to put on my legs.

i'm thinking either leggings or tights, but what color?

i think ivory is just too much ivory. i think black is too dark for summer

maybe a pair of skinny jeans (?) what do you think?

i also put together the horse garlands

i love the way they turned out! i just hope they fit the horses:)

i decided to use fake flowers instead of making them from tissue paper.

we got a couple green garlands at michael's and the flowers popped right on.

super easy and super pretty. i plan to tie them on with some ribbon.

SO happy to cross a couple things off my list!

i meet with the photographer and florist on thursday

and we also need to start registering this week.

i think we'll start at bed bath and beyond,

but i want to include a couple other stores too. any suggestions?

feels like things are finally starting to come together.

so exciting!

a momentary lapse of reason

and a bit of wishful thinking.

 

i ordered this dress for the wedding last week before i realized

it's only 26" from CF to CF hem...you heard me right, 26 inches!

that's like the length of 2 and half sheets of paper..not even

i'm pretty sure that will be too short. haha!

anyways, i should get it this week and will humor myself by trying it on.

you never know until you try, right?

back to the drawing board

okay. so i'm totally back and forth on buying vs making my dress.

i found a beautiful dress online last week and ordered it right away.

it hasn't even arrived yet and i've already decided i don't want it

and am back to the drawing board on making my own.

it's true, i might LOVE it when i gets here,

but in the meantime....i can't stop thinking about the 'perfect' design.

i worked on some sketches last night and i think the one on the left is my fave.

and i think i want to bead the skirt with tiny glass seed beads.

maybe some scalloped edging with 'stripes' running up the length of the skirt.

the beads will add a nice weight and the circle skirt is perfect for twirling.

i made a new pattern last night and dreamt of all sorts of construction details.

i got up before the sun this morning and started a new sample.

so...the saga continues, but i feel like i'm on the right track:)

i now have a jumping off point for the dress design.

i drafted a simple darted bodice and a nice full skirt

so i can get an idea of proportion, scale and fabric drape.

i still need to decide on length and figure out some construction details

...notice 2 different strap ideas...

i have also been working on some special trim samples.

i'm really excited about making it fabulous

so far so good!

accessories

i'm all packed up! you think i'm bringing enough necklaces?

i'm sure i packed way too much and i'll probably only wear a couple of things.

the trouble is i never know which 'couple of things' til i get there.

...BTW...

i also snapped a handful of photos today of some new springy clutches

so you can expect an update sometime this week...including the new beauties

i'll be posting poolside:)
