sleigh bells bling.

i've been having a fabulous holiday weekend.

...good food, great company...

 

some holiday crafting

 

 and maybe even a little bit of decorating later on this afternoon

...speaking of decorating...

i made all the fancy sleigh bell baubles with glittered egg carton cups. 

there are SO many uses for these sparkling cuties!

they're even kinda quirky on the cuckoo clock

 

they are also fabulous on a garland or as a shimmering gift charm.

plus, they're SUPER easy to make!

i'll post more pics and a quick blurb on how i made them later on this week

tree skirt

i am having so much fun making special displays for SF renegade.

i had a child size dress form that i wanted to use sort of like a christmas tree to display some of my ornaments. i knew i wanted to make a dress for her, but i didn't want it to be too fussy and take away from the birds.

 

i was digging around in some old fabric stashes and came across a tank that i dyed green. it fit perfectly onto the form stretching all the way to the bottom. i just had to do a little altering on the straps.

 

i stitched around the base so it fits like a lampshade, added a satin ribbon, some sequins, a few birds....and voila!

i couldn't resist pinning some wings to her back.

 

i think i still want to make a collar to sit over the shoulders and maybe add a few leaves to the skirt. i might even twist some stars around her shoulders unless i decide to use her as a necklace display. she looks pretty fabulous with glass beads strung around her neck. oh my. decisions, decisions...

anyways, i am planning to add some new stuff to the shop over the next few days incuding a new batch of owl plush and some tiny house kits.

glitter bugs and dirt balls

business as usual around here

i made a pair of glitterbugs this weekend

 

from some quirky vintage beetle brooches

...and i stitched up a heap of dirt balls...

 

which will be sprouting prickly pears by the end of the week.

i also whipped up a few new totes that i will add to the shop very soon.

it is a beautiful sunshiney day and the tiny house is bursting with color.

i've been stitchin up new totes from some really lovely woven patterns

 
like pink and olive plaid and some turquoise herringbone.

i also found another tiny doe tucked away in one of my sewing shelves.

matilda has been sunbathing in my scrap piles all morning

 

and looking forward to a long walk after lunch....me too!

absolutely booty-ful

i finally finished my fancy wallets.

boy are they alot of work, but i think it was worth it.

they are absolutely booty-ful:)

 

15 tiny appliqued pieces have been carefully cut pieced stitched and glued

to create these mini masterpieces.

 

2 slip pockets are scalloped and trimmed in lace

 

and the cork buttons around the back

to securely store all of your bountiful booty.

 

also, i have been hoarding a pile of these vintage playing cards

...wondering what the heck to do with them...

 

they are perfect paired with the wallets and tuck neatly inside one of the slips

all of these beauties are now in my shop:)

the countdown begins.

well, it's just about a month and counting before RENEGADE SF!

 

i haven't done a craft fair in years and i am super duper excited

to be participating in my very first renegade:)

i started cutting out my banner last night...

 

basically hacking away at a big ol' piece of felt. 

i think the scrap looks kind of a cityscape.

...still figuring out the details, but i had to start somewhere...

 

i like the it so far, but i'm not sure how to finish it off or how to hang it

i have also started stockpiling my pretties

 

so i can get a visual of how much stuff i have to bring.

i have no idea how much i need and i'm a little nervous about it being 2 days

...hope i'm on the right path...

and i hope if you live out here in cali that you will come on by and say hello:)

peppermint pirate ship

i'm sure you've noticed by now i am slightly obsessed with the ship in a bottle.

so of course it was tops on my list when i decided to try some wallet samples.

 

this is my very first completed piece and i LOVE the way it turned out.

inside is a pair of pockets in which to store your booty:)

i will reveal the design in all it's glory very soon.
