pretty pretty prints

wow. i guess i've been a bit quiet on the blog this week. huh?

well, there's been plenty of work going on behind the scenes.

i've been hunting down some vintage prints for my next collection

and sketching and cutting and sewing...and making a big ol' creative mess.

and spendin lots of time stalking certain vintage pretties on ebay.

i just acquired the floral you see up top and i tend to get a little distracted during my searches and came across some of these lovely vintage tea towels.

this one reminds me of the sunny tinytopia.

and you know i can never get enough of the pirate ships

and i just love the detailing on these flowers.

anyways, i was a good girl and i only bought the fabric yardage, 

but i think the towels are such a great source of inspiration. 

you gotta love ebay. just never know what you'll find.

monster madness

it looks like something off the pages of a storybook from the outside,

but inside resides a monster mess.

i wonder how such a gigantic mess can fit into such a tiny house?

it's been driving me absolutely mad and i don't even know where to begin...so i have started taking things inside the 'big house' to work on the coffee table/dining room table...etc. well, the dog and the mister have reached a breaking point...so i am forced to put things in order.

felt menagerie

these pretty little mask kits are now in the shop 

 

...i have simplified the tutorial for hand sewing...

styles include

butterfly...elephant...fox...owl...kitty.

i will also be offering a very limited number of sewn owl masks.

kiss of color

i spent over four hours yesterday afternoon priming the walls in my bedroom.

...i don't have any plans for color yet...

so i did a little research online for inspiration and this is what i found.

i think i just googled 'calming bedroom' for most of these images.

so i know i want to keep the walls pretty pale.

probably a soft grayish aqua

i noticed a lot of small prints paired next to the bed...which i also like.

we have a platform bed so i think i want to do a tufted upholstered head board.

although i want to keep it mostly layered in soft colors,

i also like these pops of print and pattern.

and there's something kind of fabulous about the eclectic styling 

of flea market finds mixed with gardenish accessories

i think this 'screen' might also make a cute headboard

then again, i love the simplicity and serenity of 

layering white on white on white

although...i think i am in need of just a kiss of color on the walls.

hmmm...decisions decisions. i think i'll have to sleep on it.

tiny blueprints

well, i thought i should check in and let you know 

that everything is on schedule for the update. 

i even managed to put together some blueprints for the this tiny felt house.

i still need to make the kits and take some photos but i'm gonna try to have them in the shop by friday.

EDIT: now in the shop :)

also, i wanted to let you know that etsy has recently added a feature that lets me rearrange things in my shop whenever i want (FINALLY!!!) and so i think it makes more sense to keep everything under the same roof. which means the kits will be added to prettylilthings rather than schmancypants.

i will also be transferring all my shinylilthings over the next few days.

seeds of inspiration

i spent time this weekend putting the magic sprinkles on my new kits.

 

...if you haven't already guessed...

i was inspired by my lovely little terrariums

along with the silly sketch from this project

to create some colorful iron on kits

that can be used for a number of different projects.

 

you get everything you need to make your very own wonderland

along with a list of creative ideas

...and since one idea always leads to another...

there are 6 different styles .

they will all be at schmancypants on thursday.
