does anyone really call them "pom-pons"?
i recently learned of this spelling/pronunciation and i have to admit...it turned my whole world upside down!
either way, it seems i have them on the brain...so i thought i'd post this funny little tutorial i wrote up awhile back.
i know there are a million pom pom toots out there and a ton of ways to make them, but this is the way i do it without any fancy tools or supplies.
all you need is...yarn, fingers, scissors, thread.
more fingers = bigger pom pom more wraps = puffier pom pom
here is what i did for the pom poms in the pic:
wrap yarn 35-40 times around 2-3 fingers
carefully remove from fingers and tie around the center with matching thread
( i tied it around a few times...nice and tight)
trim pom pom to desired shape and size
and voila you have your very own handmade pom pom!
use a needle and thread (or yarn or ribbon) to make a loop for hanging
imagine how you can sass them up with specialty yarns and ribbon and such.
fun:)

I never liked the real name of 'pom pon.' Sounds too much like tampon to want to have it attached to my hat or something.

OK, I think I could actually make some of these pom poMs!
It ruined it for me too when I learned of the spelling...cheerleader pom poms (every girl played with these, right?) were never the same. Pom poms just sounds more fun!Same with coupons...I purposely still say "Q-pons". :)

LOL - my daughter dressed up as a cheerleader for the superbowl and I kept telling my husband that it was "Pom Pon" and he thought I was so strange...glad someone knows the true spelling. Although I have to admit I'm more partial to Pom Pom as well.
I saw someone making this adorable little pom poms at a scrapbooking/craft night and thought they were so fun! =)

well looks like I found the activity that my wife asked me looking for, and now the final step, show this information to her and let the imagination flight free as the wind does.
