have you ever heard of rosie wonders?
here is just a taste of what she does. it's SO fabulous!
i'm sure i'm probably the last to discover her, but just in case there's a couple of other late bloomers out there...i thought i'd share :)

ever since the tree fell, the tiny house is bombarded by sun this time of the year starting at noon and lasting through about 4 o'clock.
the heat is unbearable! even on a cool day.
so i have had to figure out a way to work in the big house
it's been a bit of a challenge, but good for stirring up some new ideas.
this is one that i have been thinking about for awhile and as you can see it doesn't involve any fabric. just paint and beads and ribbon and...
...well, you'll see:)

it seems i am still knee deep in tutorial development,
but i finally see a glimmering light at the end of the tunnel.
patterns have been perfected, needlework diagrams have been carefully drawn, samples in different colorways have been stitched...AND everything has been sent off to the printers. i just have a couple more details sort out before i can start cutting the oodles and oodles of felt that arrived earlier this week.
these babies are SO much more time consuming than i anticipated
i hope it will all be worth it!

another room from whistle & wink
i had so much fun working on this project with the designer Bridget Kelly!
i think it might just be my favorite one so far :)
...not your typical pale green or yellow with 'non gender-specific' icons...
the perfect uni nursery
don't you love the color palette?
one of the critter scenes is used as wall art.
notice jennifer murphy's little elephant container
and one of my pretty little pygmies.

there are all sorts of critters out and about these days.
the squirrels are wreaking havoc in my potted plants on the back deck and it sounds like a hail of bullets around dinner time.
sometimes i wonder if our windows will break!
anyways, here is the bulldog in her natural habitat.
practically undetectable! can you see her there in the center?
i think she likes her new bed:)
look who else i found snoozing in the leaves this morning.
her little fawn is snacking off in the distance.
i love that they like to hang out nearby!

why is it that you always get the best ideas when your plate is already so full?
i have been sketching teeny tiny blueprints on just about any little scrap i can find lately. i have a pile of old envelopes and take out menus with all sorts of top secret information scribbled on them. i think i will be able to start playing around with my new ideas starting next week. woo hoo!
in the meantime i have been expending some of my creative energy on a couple of personal projects... as i had mentioned yesterday. here are the pillows i have been meaning to make for at least a year.
i whipped them up on saturday and i absolutely LOVE them to death!!
i found the embroideries on ebay. i actually have quite the collection.
i backed the deer panel with a crazy kaffe print and trimmed it in some super soft pom poms and the round guy is backed in hot pink corduroy. i think they will make a great addition to the tiny house.
that is, if i can find some space for them:)

i am SO looking forward to the next season. i love the changing of the leaves, the crispness in the air and switching to autumn decor. i have been feeling the need to spruce things up a bit recently and worked on a couple personal crafts over the weekend.
anyways, last week was aimee's birthday and we went out to celebrate saturday night at a restaurant called maria maria which is owned by carlos santana. really cool atmosphere, great food and even better company.
here is her gift.
you might recognize esther from this post.
i liked her so much i thought i'd get one for aims who has a VERY green thumb so i'm sure she will find something lovely to plant in her pretty little head.
AND since there's nothing like a handmade gift...i made the autumn dream catcher with grosgrain ribbon, a bunch of wire stemmed flowers and one of these freaky little deer figurines . she loved it!
i think it makes a pretty frame for the lady head too...kind of reminds me of this post
i will share more crafty stuff this week.

last weekend i split a pair of corduroys and added a pretty print.
i took pics so i can show you how i did it.
i will try to put together a tutorial soon.
it's fairly simple, but there are a couple tricks.
i still want to make the heart pants and i have have the perfect pair of pink cords. i just need to figure out what color hearts i want.
i am always looking for new ideas and cool ways to reinvent my wardrobe and i found this great jersey knit dress in an old anthropologie catalog
i love the woven waist band
and all the texture in the ribbon and lace trim.
hmmm. i'll have to figure out a way to work this into a t shirt.

i thought i would give you a little update on the masks.
i think i have finally figured out the tutorial text and layout. i think!
i've refined it over and over and over again, but i love it's simplicity now so it was worth it. ALSO i have decided to make them into kits. so, all things considered, i think we're lookin at another couple weeks before everything is ready to go. still plenty of time before halloween and these patterns can also be made into ornaments for christmas and of course they make great gifts.
so i think we're still on track:)
can you believe fall is just around the corner?

hooray! the time has come to share the new collection from whistle and wink.
inspired by "The Enchanted Forest"...here is the princess room.
i love bridget's ecclectic style.
not too matchy-matchy with lots of unexpected details!
you might have also noticed that some of my pretty little things
have been scattered around the room
my sweet kitty plush and rabbit mask:)
the kitty goes perfectly with my little canopy embroideries!
pretty parasol mushrooms sprouting in the corner.
and last, but not least...these lovely little dolls.
the sleepy princess was inspired by the princess and the pea (gorgeous book) and she has a big ol' bun in the back that's hard to see in the picture.
china doll is sporting her lucky red velveteen mary janes and has on a colorful pair of hand embroidered pants and black and white striped tights.
she sits beautifully with this collection
anyways, there are many more where these came from, but i think i'll post them one at a time.

my boyfriend walked in the the door last night...
...dangling this dusty old lantern from a rusty old chain.
apparently it is the one that hung over his porch when he was growing up.
anyways he scrubbed it up nice and shiny in the kitchen sink...
...we added a peppermint striped candle from last christmas
and hung it all on a plant hook outside of our dining room window.
reminds me of one of these
not too shabby!

sweet matilda prancing around in her new fancy tutu
from miss nathalie b. at kennedy and friends.
can you believe she me a pretty package out of the kindness of her heart?
she also sent me a tiny tutu perfectly fit for this lucky little dreamer
i thought i'd shoot her with my dancing girl paint by number
and tea cup ballerina terrarium
anyways, you've got to check out nathalie's gorgeous little etsy shop
it is filled with all sorts of colorful satin trimmed frills
i really want one for myself, but i don't know where i would wear it.
look here to see what else she sent:)

aimee came over this weekend to model the masks and we had a blast! unfortunately most of the images were grainy and out of focus. poo!! i really need to invest in a tripod and some lighting.
i did, however, manage to save a few and here is one of my faves.
i have done 6 different mask designs and realize that each one of them as it's own little construction quirk. i need to spend some time today working on sketches and editting text.

as you may have already guessed...
the masks will not be ready this week as i had hoped.
i still have some more development to work through. plus, the photoshoot with sis got delayed until this weekend. not to worry, everything should be ready to go very soon :)
speaking of photoshoots...many of you may be wondering what the heck happened with this!
truth be told: ME TOO!
originally i heard it would come out in march or april...then it got pushed and then pushed again supposedly to sept. and now i don't know what the heck is going on. no one tells me anything!
anyways, i contacted the wonderful photographer and she mailed me the images from the shoot. i have been waiting to see these babies since february.
i am thrilled with how they turned out.
you may have noticed i changed my profile picture recently.
here is the full image.
i love the way it looks like i'm dancing with the machine...lovely!
it's amazing what a good photographer can do with lighting:)
i usually hate pics of myself, but these i love.
thank you katrine!!
