we were running a little low on ornaments even for our tiny tree so i thought i'd make a batch from some very simple dough.

here is the recipe:
mix 2 cups flour and 1/2 cup salt then add 3/4 cup warm water and stir
the dough will be sticky so you may want to add more flour as you knead it into a ball.
use your imagination to create fun shapes...remember to either poke a hole (a drinking straw works great) or add a tiny eyelet (i bent a tiny pin with needle nose pliers into a u-shape and poked it into the top) to string a ribbon through (before you bake) so you can hang it.
bake on low (around 250 degrees) for about an hour (mine took longer and the back was still a little soft when i pulled them out, but once you paint 'em you can't tell)
i found it's easiest to work with very simple shapes. you can also use cookie cutters.

for a simple circle just roll a little ball and press to flatten.

once they cool, you can decorate them with just about anything. i used acrylic paint and elmers glue with lots a lots of glitter for added sparkle on the tree.

you can also use a garlic press for hair and to add texture to a wreath or tree. use your imagination.
the possibilities are endless...a super fun craft for the holidays!
